2 day itinerary

San Luis Obispo is a beatiful coastal town located on California’s highway 1. A lovely town with beautiful hikes, amazing beaches and great places to eat. Here is the 2 days itinerary for SLO from San Jose:

Day 1:

  • Drive to morro rock near Morro Bay (Parking: https://goo.gl/maps/3JfX5QYLgVr7bYQ39) and take a nice walk next to the rock
  • Lunch at Morro Bay town: the galley seafood grill and bar
  • Drive to Montano del oro from Morro Bay town. The drive is really beatiful. Spend some time admiring the scenic beauty.
  • Sunbathing at Avila beach (one of the finest beaches around SLO)
  • Head to Hillside hot tubs at sycamore mineral springs resort and spa. Booking in advance is recommened.
  • Head to Pirate’s Cove Beach Parking (same parking spot for pirates cove or smugglers cave) for sunset. This was the best spot to view sunset. The view was really pretty and worth it. Do not miss this one and walk down all the way till the cave (smugglers cave)
  • Firestone grill for dinner (downtown)

Day 2:

  • Start your day with a beatiful Bishop peak hike. The views from top are spectacular.
  • Bubble gum alley (2 mins walk from big sky cafe) to take some cool pictures.
  • Take a walk around downtown: check out Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa to admire its Spanish architecure, go shopping in downtown.
  • If not doing hike in the morning then head to Hearst castle on the way back. Highly recommended and need to book tour in advance. We did Grand rooms tour which was for about an hour and 15 mins.
  • Food after hike, if doing this: sally loos/linneas cafe OR Novo/Big sky cafe/Luna red for lunch if super hungry after hike
  • Food after Hearst castle, if doing this: check out food places in Cambria, a small town which is 15 mins drive from Hearst castle.
